Sunset Calm Water Adventures  - Perfect for first-time paddlers, and anyone looking for a relaxing paddle on mostly calm water. Explore the river near Sycamore Island by paddling in and around some of the connected ponds along the river channel. Along the way you'll learn basic paddling skills and how to effectively maneuver a kayak on the water. Your guide will customize this experience based on the interest of the participants and may include kayak games and races for those who want to focus on skills or more exploration and information about the San Joaquin River for those who want a relaxing and educational tour. This tour is appropriate for paddlers aged 12 and up. Physical requirements: Guests should be able to walk on uneven ground to enter and exit the boats, and use hands, arms, and torso for paddling. Our longer half-day tour is a great way to get started with paddling on the San Joaquin River. Your guide will provide basic paddling instruction and safety guidelines, then lead you on a downstream trip through calm, quiet stretches and exhilarating riffles. Enjoy beautiful scenery, and catch a glimpse of the beautiful birds and other wildlife that call the river their home. This tour is appropriate for paddlers aged 12 and up. Physical requirements: Guests should be able to walk on uneven ground to enter and exit the boats, and use hands, arms, and torso for paddling. PLEASE NOTE: River Tours involve shuttling passengers between the take-out point and put-in points at the beginning and the end of the trip. To reduce the potential transmission of COVID-19, the River Parkway Trust is not able to shuttle members of the public between sites. Participants are responsible for providing enough vehicles and drivers to shuttle their group between sites.
